What is 3D printing, and how does it work?
3D printing is an additive manufacturing process that creates three-dimensional objects by layering material, typically plastic, one thin layer at a time. It begins with a digital design file (usually in STL format) that guides the 3D printer in building the object layer by layer using gcode.
What types of materials do you use for 3D printing?
Our 3D printing service offers a wide range of materials such as biodegradable and colorful PLA, strong and durable ABS, chemical resistant PETG, flexible rubber-like TPU, and impact resistant nylon / carbon fiber reinforced filament to name a few. If your project requires a specialty filament, our tool heads have a max extrusion temperature of 300 ℃
How do I submit my design for 3D printing?
You can submit your design by sending the digital design file (STL, 3MF, OBJ, etc) to our company through our free online 3D print estimator or sales@cc3dlabs.com. We’ll review the file and provide a quote based on your specifications.
What is the typical turnaround time for a 3D printing project?
Turnaround time depends on the complexity and size of your project. We strive to provide fast and efficient service, and we’ll provide an estimated delivery date with your quote. Our printers have a max 20000 mm/s² acceleration speed and max tool head speed of 500 mm/s while retaining the quality our customers expect.
Is there a minimum order quantity or size requirement?
We don’t have strict minimum order requirements, but we can discuss the feasibility of your project based on its size and quantity to provide you the best price and service. We are familiar with both individual prints and batch orders.
Can you assist with design modifications or improvements?
Yes, we offer design consultation services and can help optimize your design for 3D printing, ensuring it meets the best standards for successful printing. We also offer modifications to existing commonly available STL’s or provided files.
What steps are involved in the 3D printing process, from submission to delivery?
The 3D printing process typically includes design review, material selection, printing, post-processing (if requested), quality control, and packaging. We’ll keep you informed at each stage and provide estimated delivery dates.
What is your policy on intellectual property and confidentiality?
Trust is everything. We take intellectual property and confidentiality very seriously. Your design files and project details are treated with the utmost discretion, respect, and security. We can provide or sign provided non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) upon request to further protect your intellectual property. Confidential files should be sent via secured file sharing service (e.g. Dropbox, Google Drive, etc)
Do you offer post-processing services, such as smoothing or painting?
Yes, we provide post-processing options to enhance the appearance and functionality of your prints, including support removal, smoothing (acetone vapor bath) and assembly (glue, heat weld, chemical weld, hardware) as needed.
We do not offer painting, priming, or sanding services at this time.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
What level of quality and detail can I expect from your 3D printing services?
Our 3D printing services are known for their high quality and dimensional precision. We use cutting edge FDM technology to achieve excellent detail and accuracy in our prints not commonly found in hobbyist printers. That being said, you can usually still differentiate between a 3D printed object VS an injection moulded product or other manufacturing method. Refer to our project gallery before placing an order to get an idea of the quality of our prints and see if it would be a good fit for your project.
What file formats are compatible with your 3D printing services?
We accept a wide range of 3D file formats, with STL being the most common. Other compatible formats may include OBJ, STEP, and 3MF. If you have a specific format in mind, please feel free to reach out, and we’ll do our best to accommodate it.
Do you offer design services for those who don't have a 3D model?
Absolutely! Our team includes skilled designers who can assist you in creating a 3D model from your concept or idea. We offer comprehensive design services to bring your vision to life.
What maintenance or care is required for 3D printed objects?
3D printed objects typically require no maintenance. However, it’s advisable to avoid exposing certain 3d printed filaments (PLA for example) to extreme temperatures or prolonged UV exposure. Cleaning with a mild detergent and soft cloth is usually sufficient for maintenance.
What is the maximum build volume or size for 3D prints?
Our 3D printers have specific build volumes, which vary depending on the machine. We can accommodate a wide range of sizes through splicing, and we’ll work with you to ensure your design fits within our capabilities. Large volume prints can often be split into smaller snap-fitting or glued pieces for ease of assembly, delivery, and portability.
Do you provide shipping and delivery options?
Yes, we offer shipping and delivery services, ensuring that your 3D printed items are safely transported to your location. Shipping costs may vary depending on your location and shipping method.
What are the costs associated with 3D printing services?
Our competitive pricing varies based on factors such as material type, printing time, and any additional post processing services required. We offer fair and transparent pricing and can provide a detailed quote upon reviewing your project.
Can I get a sample or prototype before placing a larger order?
Yes, we offer the option to create a sample or prototype of your design before proceeding with a larger order. This allows you to evaluate the quality and design of the 3D printed object to ensure it meets your expectations.
Can I request modifications or changes to my 3D printed order after it's been submitted?
We understand that design changes may be necessary. Depending on the stage of your project, we can discuss the feasibility of modifications and any associated costs or delays. Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss changes.
Do you offer expedited or rush orders for urgent projects?
Yes, we provide expedited and rush order options for urgent projects that require faster turnaround times. Please let us know your timeframe, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.
Are there any design limitations or considerations I should be aware of for 3D printing?
Design considerations for FDM-based 3D prints may include overhangs, support structures, and minimum wall thickness. Our team can offer design guidelines and recommendations to help you optimize your designs for successful 3D printing.
